14 Apr Wydad Casablanca 5-0 (agg) Horoya: Moroccans storm into semis with dismantling of Horoya
Wydad Casablanca setup a Caf Champions League semifinal date with Mamelodi Sundowns after a convincing victory over Horoya.
Striker Walid El-Karti directed Wydad’s 5-0 demolition of Horoya using a set of goals and an assist at a quarter-final, second leg match in the Stade Prince Moulay Abdallah on Saturday.
El-Karti caught his dual within the opening 30 minutes, before putting up Mohammed Nahiri since Wydad ran riot from the Guineans, who they held to 0-0 draw in the first leg at Conakry.
Defender Abdellatif Noussir and striker Zouheir El-Moutaraji were on goal to complete the rout and also establish a semi-final date with Mamelodi Sundowns, who’d reserved a previous four place earlier in the afternoon despite a 1-0 loss at Al Ahly.
The outcome watched Wydad denying Horoya a brand new place in the previous four, since the Guineans’ Champions League campaign finished in the quarter-final point for the second year running.
El Karti push Wydad forward 20 minutes into the game off an assist from Yahya Jabrane, before doubling his side’s benefit 10 minutes after after being set up by Mohammed Ounajem.
Ounajem was the provider again for Noussir’s 34th objective to hand Wydad a commanding 3-0 half-time lead.
Before the hour mark, El-Karti turned founder when he fed Nahiri, before El-Moutaraji place the match much beyond Horoya’s reach with a fifth goal five minutes from time.

Wydad are bidding to win their next Caf Champions League trophy in 3 seasons after being crowned winners in 2017.
However they will first have to deal with Sundowns from the semi-finals.
The two sides met at the group phase, when Sundowns won 2-1 in the home before Wydad maintained a 1-0 victory two months afterwards.
