Tottenham news: Son Heung-min donates #100k to South Korean fire sufferers

The Spurs striker’s donation comes following a giant forest fire into his eponymous ruined around 400 houses, with 2 people confirmed dead

Tottenham forwards Son Heung-min has given about #100,000 into the victims of a deadly refuge in South Korea.

The fire swept across the nation’s north-eastern mountainous area, near the boundary with North Korea, with two dead and hundreds left homeless.

Police have called it one of the biggest fires in South Korean history. Researchers believe the fire started from a transformer spark on the night of April 5.

Son is a national icon in his homeland and remarked on his generous contribution after Spurs’ win over Huddersfield Town on Saturday.

“It is nothing in comparison to what the victims have forfeited,” he explained.

“Though I am living overseas, I¬†understand what is happening in my home country.

“I think that it’s something that I need to do if there is a significant tragedy in my home country.

“I think money doesn’t make a difference. The most crucial issue is a brain to do something for the victims”

The Spurs striker is that the celebrity of South Korea’s nationwide team and helped his side win the Asian Games last September, an accomplishment that watched him spared from army service.

Son has handled 18 targets in all competitions at club level this year, with his latest attack visiting Spurs beat Manchester City 1-0 in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

The next leg will occur in the Etihad Stadium this Wednesday, and following a Lucas Moura hat-trick headed Spurs into a convincing 4-0 victory over Huddersfield in the weekend, Son is convinced his side can complete the task in midweek.

“I think my teammates demonstrated a fantastic performance now,” Son additional, after coming off the bench to put up Moura’s next aim of the afternoon.

“The Manchester City sport is going to be a demanding one, but I think that if we perform as a team, we may have a fantastic outcome.

“If we believe in ourselves and perform since we did now in home, we’ve got enough chances to have a fantastic outcome.”

Tottenham stay next to the Premier League table with five matches to play and will face Manchester City away from home again in the next league match that Saturday.
