Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino contrasts’icon’ Son Heung-min into David Beckham

The South Korea global has obtained a hero’s welcome throughout Tottenham’s tour of Asia, prompting his trainer to compare him into the ex-England celebrity

Mauricio Pochettino clarified Son Heung-min as”an icon” and contrasted the Tottenham attacker to former Manchester United star David Beckham before his side’s battle with the Red Devils.

Son was a focus throughout Tottenham’s pre-season tour of Asia and Pochettino stated the reception of this South Korea worldwide came as no surprise.

The 27-year old is preparing for his fifth full year as a Spurs player and he’s scored 42 aims in 130 Premier League appearances since his birth from Bayer Leverkusen at August 2015.

Asked whether he had been taken aback from the adoration on screen for Son, Pochettino told colleagues:”No, not surprised. We can love and observe how the people today love Sonny here in Asia.

“Obviously, he is an icon. I compared him earlier to David Beckham in fame.

“It does not surprise me but it is very good to find out how the people today love him and how important he is to get many folks.

“I’m pleased to listen to him telling you that he wants to improve, be much better and work hard. That mindset is fantastic and that’s the reason he is a really good case for all of the fans and most of those people, not just here in Asia but from the world.”

Son played down his value into a squad he’s proud to be part of, but educated his team-mates who, although they reached the Champions League final in 2018-19, they could enhance having neglected to send silverware despite demonstrating substantial promise for numerous years.

“It is not only me, it is everybody,” said Son, shrugging off the accolades of the trainer. “It is unique being here together with all the team. I really don’t care about becoming the primary [attraction] or not.

“I am pleased to be here but I am still studying, appearing to be greater daily. Obviously, I like it but not too much stress. I must love this moment.

“I must be pleased to work harder than previously since the people are constantly watching me and anticipate more. I am looking forward to become improved using all our team and with our employees. I am constantly looking forward”
