Southampton’s Jankewitz racially abused after Man United purple card

Southampton have contacted the police after midfielder Alexandre Jankewitz was racially abused on social media.

Jankewitz, 19, was purple carded after two minutes throughout Southampton’s 9-Zero defeat to Manchester United at Outdated Trafford on Tuesday.

“Southampton Football Membership can verify that it has recognized quite a lot of posts on social media directing racial abuse at our 19-year-old midfielder Alex Jankewitz, following final evening’s outcome at Manchester United,” a Southampton assertion learn.

“Abuse of any kind won’t ever be tolerated at Southampton. Our membership prides itself on its inclusive nature, and supporters who stoop to such abhorrent and archaic requirements will not be welcome as Southampton supporters, or wherever else inside football.

“The membership will proceed to battle each day to take away such individuals from our sport and our group with a view to shield our gamers, our employees, Southampton followers and football supporters world wide who recognise and rejoice the variety that makes football particular.

“The membership is passing on all abusive messages to Hampshire Police and hope they’re able to completely take away these people from our football group.”

It’s the newest in a latest spate of incidents involving gamers being abused on social media after United pair Axel Tuanzebe and Anthony Martial have been focused following the membership’s 2-1 defeat to Sheffield United.
