Senegal 1 Benin 0: Mane and Gueye join to violate Squirrels’ solve
Senegal overcome Benin 1-0 at Cairo to become the first side to book their place at the semi-finals of this 2019 Africa Cup of Nations.
Sadio Mane and Idrissa Gueye tied up to violate Benin’s solve as Africa Cup of Nations favourites Senegal gained a 1-0 triumph in Wednesday’s quarter-final.
Senegal escaped using a slight victory against Uganda at the past 16 and they were made to work hard to maintain their pursuit for a primary AFCON title living by Benin.
After a silent opening hour at Cairo that watched Mane largely shackled, Aliou Cisse’s side stepped up things and discovered a winner 21 minutes from time through Everton midfielder Gueye.
Gueye exchanged passes with Mane and transformed to the far corner to reserve a semi-final date together with Madagascar or Tunisia and finish the dream run of Benin, that had been decreased to 10 guys overdue on when Olivier Verdon had been disregarded.

Benin concentrated on preventing the resistance from the first half, however Senegal did get in behind a few times soon before half-time.
M’Baye Niang and Gueye had shots blocked and Youssouf Sabaly was not able to square the ball to Mane facing goal for what could have been a very simple conclusion.
Mane’s frustrations continued early in the second half since he had a header suitably ruled out for offside.

However, the Liverpool forwards begun to view more of this ball and he played a huge role in the winning goal since he connected up with Gueye, who showed excellent composure after surging through to fire across Saturnin Allagbe.
Mane was denied a goal by VAR four minutes – the initial usage of this technology from the championship – and that he had an effort kept off the line by Emmanuel Imorou.
Verdon has been shown a red card for bringing Gueye from the 82nd moment as Benin’s initial quarter-final look ended in defeat.
