Premier League: Javi Gracia backs Troy Deeney as England’s best striker

Watford manager Javi Gracia states Troy Deeney is your best striker England have to offer you.

Deeney has scored nine times in 29 matches this year, carrying his total into 37 around almost four Premier League seasons. )

The 30-year-old striker has yet to make a cap for England, together with the likes of Harry Kane, Marcus Rashford, Jamie Vardy and Callum Wilson enjoying striker for the Three Lions within the previous year.

However Gracia believes Deeney is far better than most of them and shouldn’t be overlooked by Gareth Southgate and England no more.

“You will find great English players at that place, but in my own view Troy is your top one,” he explained. 

“He is in an excellent moment today, but it is not my choice and I try to be respectful with all the federal team.”

Deeney lately fired home his punishment through the FA Cup semi-final against Wolves, helping his side to a finale date with Manchester City.

A game against Arsenal in the Premier League looms, as Watford accept on that the Gunners on Monday, also Gracia states Deeney’s personality and skill are crucial to the club moving forward.

“He handled it quite well, you need to get that character and that he understands at that instant all of the folks were looking at him.

“It was a significant time for your own team and team and he handled very well, scoring the target and doing something quite unique for its team.

“In my view he constantly shows the ideal mindset, occasionally he likes to talk and say various things, however, he constantly shows an excellent attitude and he is veyr respectful.

“Occasionally he could say some words such as’cojones’ or other type of sayings, but if you understand and spend some time with him you can see he is very respectful and just is considering how to assist the team.”

Watford now sit 10th in the Premier League with games against Arsenal, Huddersfield and Southampton on the horizon.
