25 Apr Milan v Lazio Match Report, 24/04/2019, Coppa Italia
Lazio attained the Coppa Italia final after Joaquin Correa’s second-half goal earned them a 1-0 semi-final second leg win over AC Milan.
Lazio gained revenge by beating AC Milan 1-0 to clinch their place at the Coppa Italia final only 11 days following a fractious defeat their Serie A rivals, who knocked them out of the cup last year.
Milan’s 1-0 success at Stadio Olimpico place them in the driving seat to finish fourth and qualify for the Champions League this year but Joaquin Correa’s second-half hit delivered a win which could barely taste sweeter for Simone Inzaghi’s side.
The people awakened a high-octane first half and then stepped up a gear following the period, laying siege to Pepe Reina’s target before Correa slipped the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs.
The Rossoneri’s Franck Kessie and Tiemoue Bakayoko angered Lazio’s fans using their parties after winning Rome, however, the bragging rights swung the other way as Inzaghi’s guys set up a final against Fiorentina or even Atalanta.

The two sides started gung-ho to a full blooded competition and Sergej Milinkovic-Savic hobbled off into certain pain having gone awkwardly on his arm, before team-partner Ciro Immobile turned thickly on the border of the box and drilled a low shot to Reina’s midriff.
In the flip side Lucas Leiva’s bad clearance enabled Calabria to rattle a harmful bouncing campaign towards target which Thomas Strakosha needed to dive into parry around the article.
Calabria then limped from this match after pulling up with a muscle strain and Bastos and Correa missed gold opportunities for Lazio near the end of a frenetic first half.
Lucas delivered a superb effort curling towards target since Lazio pressed in the second half but Reina created an equally magnificent save before Bastos led wide from the resultant corner.
The opener came out of a blistering counter-attack, Immobile exploding through the half-way lineup and ingesting Correa who bore on target before nutmegging Reina using a casual finish.
Substitute Patrick Cutrone believed he’d led the equaliser 15 minutes from time but an offside flag was properly raised .
Felipe Caicedo had a penalty appeal waved away in the opposite end after he had been felled by Reina, but one goal proved to be sufficient for Lazio.
What exactly does it imply? A competition in the manufacturing
Milan are just four points clear of Lazio in Serie A and quite much in the driving seat to reach the Champions League, however they’ll look on enviously as a side that they beat 1-0 in the league play with a showpiece cup closing.
Immobile leads including
Lazio’s goal man might have just scored once in the previous six months but provided he pulls defenders out of position and carves teams open with his powerful running since he did this, Inzaghi won’t complain.
Kessie goes silent
Post continues under
After rubbing Lazio’s noses in it in Stadio Olimpico, Kessie was hardly concerned on per nighttime when Milan were involved in a true struggle in midfield.
What is next?
Milan visit Torino as they seem to strengthen their grip on fourth place in Serie A, while Lazio are off at Sampdoria.
