18 Apr Liverpool news: Jurgen Klopp hails’particular’ side following Porto triumph
The Reds manager was filled with pride following his side clinched their place in the past four to the second season running
Jurgen Klopp felt Liverpool’s ever-increasing Champions League encounter was critical in their own 6-1 aggregate quarter-final triumph over Porto, also dubbed his own side”particular” after they procured a semi-final location for the 2nd successive year.
The Reds are the only side one of the 2017-18 semi-finalists to come back to the previous four this year and they improved in some fashion since Porto were brushed aside 4-1 in the second leg in Estadio do Dragao.
Sadio Mane’s second goal in as many matches started the scoring and there have been additional strikes against Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Virgil van Dijk since Liverpool swallowed lots of Porto strain while being ruthless in attack.
The debut of Jordan Henderson and Firmino at the second half appeared to knock the previous bit of steam from Porto, also Klopp advised BT Sport it had been a part of his game plan to possess their new legs in book.
“In the second half it was apparent that the power level would fall just a bit for Porto therefore we can control the game more and evaluate the targets,” said Klopp.
“It was apparent that the pace will be reduced since they could not deal with the pace they’d in the initial 30 minutes. This was why we wanted to get it done like this, so we can bring on Bobby [Firmino] and Hendo [Henderson] too.
“We’re increasingly more seasoned, that is clear. We’ve had difficult games away [Manchester] Town this past year, in Rome this past year, and we all knew this could be the same. They’re a different creature in house games and it was obvious we needed to be prepared for that.
“I believe we’re the only ones that were at the semi-finals last year also at the semi-finals again. That is really special for all of us.”
Looking forward of the clash with Barcelona, Klopp added:”It is the first time I’d like to play with themapart from a friendly and naturally we’re anticipating that.”
Jordan Henderson was heating up on that the touchline if Mane put Liverpool in front on the nighttime, and he explained the decision to award the target despite a first offside flag was right in his opinion.
“I believed [Mane’s goal] was a target to tell the truth, thankfully it had been granted and that gave us a real increase coming in at half-time,” explained Henderson.

“It was hard but that is exactly what we anticipated. We needed to prepare from the beginning, we dug really well, they had a half chances and it had been hard at the first half”
Liverpool are off at Cardiff City next because their Premier League title drive proceeds, and Henderson stated there’s lots of perception in the group.
“We think but we have got to keep working hard,” he explained. “We try to provide everything and be dreadful to play .”
