The Barcelona forward was sent off as his side beat Chile 2-1 to win the play-off fixture, but he could not help but feel a sense of injustice

Lionel Messi has said that”football was not reasonable” to Argentina after their third-place end at Copa America.

The Barcelona forward was in the centre of controversy since Argentina beat Chile 2-1 from the third-place play-off match, getting a red card alongside Gary Medel following the pair clashed on the pitch afterwards 36 minutes.

Messi’s team-partners supplied the merchandise regardless of his dismissal since Sergio Aguero and Paulo Dybala’s attempts proved sufficient to secure third position, even though Arturo Vidal’s goal from the penalty spot on 59 minutes.

Within an Instagram narrative published following the final whistle, Messi explained:”We’re leaving this Copa using a triumph but over all with our heads held high and also the impression which now football was not honest with us.

“Due to how we played because we had been much better than Brazil, we needed to be in the last tomorrow.

“However, we must appear forward with optimism since there’s a future here and also a fantastic foundation within this nationwide team and we only need to give it time”

The Argentinian revealed less restraint along with his remarks immediately after the closing whistle nonetheless, accusing CONMEBOL of”corruption” and claiming that”the entire thing is put up to Brazil.”

“I didn’t need to become a part of the corruption, we should not need to become a part of the disrespect we endured during the Copa America,” he explained.

“We might have gone farther but we weren’t permitted in the final. Corruption, referees and the remainder stopped people from appreciating the football.”

Argentina’s third-place end will probably demonstrate little consolation for Messi along with his team-mates, who dropped to Chile on penalties from the prior two Copa America finals in 2015 and 2016.
