James Rodriguez transfer: Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo plays club’s interest in Real Madrid celebrity

The team boss asserted reports of his negative moving to the Real Madrid ace we something of a stretch at the stage

Atletico Madrid president Enrique Cerezo denied James Rodriguez is poised to combine the La Liga side, including there have been discussions for the Real Madrid midfielder. 

Tipped to proceed to Napoli through the off-season, Atletico have emerged as the favourites to sign James since the Italian ensemble and Madrid battle to achieve an agreement. 

James is defined to depart Madrid after a two-year loan spell in Bayern Munich, who chose to not make the deal permanent at the end of 2018-19. 

Asked about Colombia celebrity James, Cerezo told reporters:”Atletico are thinking about players that are great and James is a superb player, but from this to he is likely to come, there is some space. 

“Negotiations? Not that I am aware of, no.” 

Atletico are active from the transfer marketplace, breaking a club record to signal Portuguese feeling Joao Felix, while also including Marcos Llorente, Hector Herrera, Felipe, Renan Lodi and Ivan Saponjic after the departures of celebrities such as Antoine Griezmann, Rodri, Lucas Hernandez and Diego Godin. 

Diego Simeone’s transfer company is far from over, but together with Tottenham right-back Kieran Trippier and Espanyol defender Mario Hermoso allegedly close to moving into the Spanish capital. 

“We have had a couple of signings and are in discussions for some more,” Cerezo said. “Negotiations can finish well or poorly, but there are discussions. 

“Everything’s going well, the team is training well, mixing in well and quite joyful at Los Angeles de San Rafael. Now we are waiting for next time with a month left .”

The summertime marks a little rebuild for the team, that have witnessed a continuing run of success because Simeone took over late in 2011.  

The team have won the Europa League twice, La Liga after, the Copa del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup and ended as runners-up from the Champions League supporting a team constructed around a ferocious defensive device.  

However, with key players leaving the team, earning a host of fresh talent will examine the manager’s ability to get a comparatively new set up to speed on his intensive style of play before the new effort.
