05 Apr Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund: Lucien Favre insists Bundesliga name will not be determined’special’ conflict
Dortmund could move five points clear of their opponents from the German top-flight using a triumph on Saturday however the trainer doubts it’s going to pick anything
Borussia Dortmund trainer Lucien Favre states the results of Saturday’s clash with Bayern Munich won’t determine which club wins the Bundesliga title.
Dortmund traveling to Munich with a two-point edge over their title competitions, Bayern having lost points from Freiburg last time outside.
With just six matches to play following this weekend’s match at the Allianz Arena, a triumph could be a massive increase for both sides.
But, Favre anticipates a few more twists and turns before the close of the effort.
“This match is quite unique: Bayern v Dortmund,” he told a press conference. “The dining table is shut, seven matches stay, and two good teams.
“When we win, nothing is determined, if we draw, then nothing is determined, should we lose nothing is determined. . .it is totally open!”
Bayern come in the game following a less-than remarkable 5-4 victory over second-tier Heidenheim from the DFB-Pokal, also Favre says he’s seen some regions Dortmund could exploit.
“Like most teams, they have any flaws,” he added. “Each team has this, even the top teams on earth.
“However [they do not have] too many, not a lot. Plus they have a great deal of advantages naturally, we all know that.
“We must focus on a great deal of stuff.”
Sporting director Michael Zorc is convinced BVB can visit Munich and find a result, especially given that they came from 2-1 down to win 3-2 at the first meeting of this year.
“We revealed in the very first game this year we can win against these and can return after a shortage,” he explained.
“We had a glance at the numbers since 2011 and we have won five times at Munich, such as DFB-Pokal.
“However, the players from now do not care about the previous decades. We do want a high performance and guts to live there, that is for certain. So we are in need of a high performance and one which is far better than the one we revealed last week”
Favre will make a late decision on the fitness of Paco Alcacer before the battle, together with Lukasz Piszczek plus a doubt.
Post continues under
“It is hard to determine today, but we believe there’s a possibility he [Alcacer] will perform,” added the coach. “We will know more tomorrow.
“With Piszczek, we’ll decide whether he joins the group following tomorrow’s training session.
“Abdou Diallo conducted today too, his condition is going to be decided tomorrow ”
