23 Jul Barcelona v Chelsea Match Report, 23/07/2019, Club Friendlies
Tammy Abraham and Ross Barkley were on goal as Frank Lampard’s Chelsea edged a friendlier favorable against Barcelona.
Antoine Griezmann made his Barcelona introduction on Tuesday but was not able to avoid the LaLiga winners slipping into a 2-1 friendly defeat to Chelsea at Saitama.
World Cup winner Griezmann — who joined the team at a $120million movement earlier this month made little effect throughout his 45-moment look against Frank Lampard’s side, who moved ahead through Tammy Abraham’s 34th-minute aim.
Barcelona appeared bright at the beginning of the second time until Ross Barkley’s good finish nine minutes from time sealed the triumph, even though Ivan Rakitic’s late attack.
Chelsea continue their preparations for its 2019-20 period with a match against Championship side Reading on Sunday, whereas Barca take on Vissel Kobe — and their former participant Andres Iniesta — a day before.
Barcelona could — and perhaps should — have gone inside the opening minute but Oriol Busquets’ header from eight yards spanned over Kepa Arrizabalaga’s goal.
Abraham was both unsuccessful at the 23rd moment, blazing a half-volley over from six yards after Marc-Andre ter Stegen had neglected to maintain Christian Pulisic’s strong attack.
The striker made up for this overlook shortly after, however, coolly rounding Ter Stegen and slotting into an empty net after Jorginho had cut Sergio Busquets’ sloppy pass on the edge of the playground.

Pulisic might have doubled their advantage five minutes before the interval but crashed a left-footed effort into the side netting, while a subdued Ousmane Dembele watched his low attack retained out by Kepa in the opposite end.

Barca were a team reborn after manufacturing 11 changes in the rest, Rafinha, Carles Perez and Carles Alena all analyzing Kepa with reduced strikes at the opening phases of the second half.
Chelsea replacement Kenedy strangely headed well wide after latching onto Barkley’s lofted pass but the England international made no error at the 81st moment, squeezing an attempt within Neto’s right-hand pole from 18 yards.
The Spanish side ended the game on a favorable note, Rakitic thundering to the upper corner from space in stoppage time.
