Atletico Madrid news: Kieran Trippier hails winning soul of Diego Simeone’s team

Diego Simeone’s guys played the vast majority of the punishment shoot-out triumph over Chivas with 10 men and their latest signing hailed their powerful disposition

Kieran Trippier commended Atletico Madrid’s”incredible” mentality after making his second appearance for the club after his transfer from Tottenham.

The right-back featured in Diego Simeone’s beginning line-up since Atletico overcome Chivas on penalties after a goalless draw from the International Champions Cup at Texas on Tuesday.

Trippier spent four seasons in Tottenham and helped the team achieve 2018-19 Champions League final prior to creating a reported $22 million ($25m, #20m) change to Wanda Metropolitano.

Atletico’s job against Chivas was made rougher by Marcos Llorente’s 24th-minute dismissal, but Trippier was proud of the answer.

“I believed we responded well,” explained Trippier. “The mindset of this team was incredible, we chose to press on and attempt to win back the ball fast.

“we would like to win, regardless of who we playwith. That is the mindset from the team and this trainer.

“Two wins from two matches and long may it last.”

He added:”I am tremendously proud to be here and prepared to give it my all.

“The fans have been phenomenal. They have been so wonderful for me and welcomed me with open arms.

“I will do my best to get the top.”

Trippier can make his competitive debut for Atletico on August 18, as Simeone’s side kick off their most recent La Liga effort at home to Getafe.

Los Rojiblancos ended runners up behind Barcelona last term, while also failing to land one piece of big silverware across all contests.

Along with Tripper, Atletico have earned eight new players this summer, such as listing signing Joao Felix and Mexican midfielder Hector Herrera.

Meanwhile, the likes of Antoine Griezmann, Rodri and Lucas Hernandez have left the clubas Simeone proceeds to reevaluate his group in Wanda Metropolitano.
