03 Jul Alex Morgan bash:’I wished to keep it intriguing’ – USWNT striker plays down outcry over tea-drinking party
The American striker reacted to her game-winning target against England using a shimmering display
U.S. striker Alex Morgan was coy when asked about her tea-drinking bash against England, only stating that she”wished to keep it interesting.”
The American ahead scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory over England in the World Cup semifinal, nodding home Lindsey Horan’s cross at the 31st moment.
After scoring, Morgan distinguished by pretending to consume a cup of java, which was labeled as”disrespectful” by some observers.
Morgan suggested that the party had been inspired by one of her teammates, who herself made an instantly iconic party in the quarterfinal from France by lofting her arms after scoring both of her objectives.
“I needed to keep it interesting,” Morgan said following the match. “I understand Megan Rapinoe gets the best parties so that I needed to attempt to measure up this match.”
Morgan did measure up on Tuesday at Lyon, scoring her sixth aim of the championship to draw level with England’s Ellen White from the race to the Golden Boot.
Her aim place the U.S. at the closing of a tournament where they’ve been followed .
In the outcry over their parties against Thailand into Rapinoe’s feud with Donald Trump to Phil Neville’s protestations from U.S. staff scouting out England’s team resort, there has ever been a non-soccer narrative enclosing the USWNT at France.
Morgan implied her party might have been motivated by these persistent talks, stating her team is remaining trendy one of all of the hysteria.
“We’ve got a good deal of noise about that team and it does not impact this team, so I think we are simply drinking the tea,” Morgan stated.
The American striker suggested that Rapinoe could have played a role in planning the party, a charge which Rapinoe did not exactly deny.
“I am constantly in the combination on items but we can not give away all of the trade secrets,” Rapinoe stated with a grin.
The U.S. will take on either Sweden or the Netherlands at the closing on Sunday because they seem to make it back to back World Cup titles.

“And that is the tea”
